I’ve been Zindorf’d!

Published by Connie under Card Techniques,Cards

Yesterday, Michelle Zindorf, Mary Brown and Karen Barber came over to my house to stamp.  All that major stamping talent in my house!  Woohoo!  It was the first time Michelle and I had met (I had no idea she lives so close!), but Karen and I met at Leadership in January and Mary and I are sidelines with Stampin’ Up! and have known each other for several years.  Each of us brought a shoebox to work on.  Of course, we wanted Michelle to show us her Zindorf brayer techniques and Karen her Black and White Magic techniques.  Mary and I chose to bring 3D projects…Mary an awesome card box tutorial from Andrea Walford and I chose to bring a Pants Purse tutorial that I think originated from Kathy McGuire’s Santa pants.  Over the next few days I’ll show you the different projects we made.

The first one was the card that Michelle taught us.  She has the tutorial on her Blog.  I tried not to deviate to much from her original design…I wanted to recreate her look EXACTLY!  I didn’t think I did too bad with her assistance on my first try!  I love the reflection of the moon on the water.  Beautiful!

This second card is one I tried to recreate from pictures of our trip to Hilton Head last year.  We watched the sunrise from our room.  The sun turned the sky into such beautiful shades of red before finally turning the sky light blue.  I tried to recreate the sand dunes and the grasses and wild sea oats with the stamp set Embrace Life.  (of note…I need to purchase some more nature type stamps so I can do more of the Zindorf technique!!!) Then, tried to recreate the darker reds at the bottom and how it blends into the lighter reds as it comes upward.  Of course, even with the Stamp-a-ma-jig, I messed up the greeting and had to cover over it with the large oval punch.  Rats!!!  I had a piece of this double-sided satin ribbon in my stash and the colors matched perfectly.  Not a Zindorf masterpiece, but I don’t think I did too bad all on my own.

Here is also a picture of the four of us at The Morgan House in Dublin, Ohio…a very nice tea room and gift shop!  Left to right, Michelle Zindorf, Karen Barber, Mary Brown and me.

Today’s a busy day for me with several stamping assignments due.  Need to get working on those.  I also need to finish prepping for my Stamp Club this week.  My husband sprained (broke?) his foot, too, so I’m trying to wait on him so he doesn’t get on it too much.  I’m insisting he needs to go to the emergency room and he is resisting….men!

Embrace Life

Published by Connie under Card Sketch,Cards,Challenges

I love the simplicity of this card! Mercy (Lord Have Mercy blog) came up with another great sketch that Mary, Lisa and I challenged each other to follow. We were then restricted by using this picture for inspiration on colors. I knew immediately that I wanted to use the leaf from Embrace Life. I stamped in Chocolate Chip and used a blender pen and Old Olive to fill in the leaves. The background on the leaf piece is Sanded background stamped in River Rock. The base is also River Rock with Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and Handsome Hunter layered in small pieces behind the focal point. I used the Piercing mat and template to create a zig zig of faux stitching and used my Chocolate Chip marker for the "thread". I added Antique Brass brads in each corner. I think this would be another great card for Father’s Day with its muted colors!

I’m back from out of town and exhausted, but wanted to get this up before the end of the night. My classes seemed to be a big hit! I had 12 in the morning and 10 in the evening…just about capacity!

Tomorrow is Blogger’s Challenge Day! I’m going to try to sleep in and rest up…but I know I’ll be anxious to get up and stamp! lol!
