Happy Birthday, Blogger’s Challenge!

Published by Connie under Birthday cards,Cards,Challenges

Wow…week #52 of the Blogger’s Challenge…Happy Birthday!  I didn’t join the first couple weeks, but loved the idea, so I was soon hooked into playing along.  Today’s theme is masculine cards.  I thought about using my standbys…Bronc Buster or Wanted…and I’m sure several of the Blogger’s will use them…but went for something different.  I guess this is more a masculine teen or college age card.  No ribbon or frills…

I love those simple cards that I can whip up in a few minutes.  For some reason, I seem to always need a card at the last minute!  For this one, I used a base of Brilliant Blue.  Then cut a 5 1/4 x 3" piece from the Jersey Shore Designer Paper.  When I first saw this design in that pack of paper, I wasn’t too sure I would ever use it…but I’ve ended up loving the stripes of different patterns on that design!  The DSP is adhered to the base.  Then I inked up the Party and Eat Cake greetings with Brilliant Blue and Pumpkin Pie markers on the Block Party image (this set is RETIRING!) and stamped on Whisper White.  I punched it with the Key Tag.  I then punched the large circle from Pumpkin Pie and used the slit punch along the top edge.  Placed the Key Tag into the slit and secured with a mini brad.  I then punched 3 small stars and placed mini brads in the center of each one.  They are adhered with dimensionals.

Quick, easy, makes a nice card for men or teens!  And it celebrates the Blogger’s Challenge Birthday!

Have a great weekend!

So Many Scallops

Published by Connie under Birthday cards

OK…tomorrow I am going to start working with all the new mini sets that I purchased! I’m working on my Tart & Tangy Stamp Camp projects, too. But, I wanted to share one more Sale-A-Bration card. I thought this turned out sweet. I made up a bunch of these (at the weekend retreat) in pink and blue to have on hand to send out. My hubby is always asking me for baby cards to send to his employees.

I’m really into quick and easy these days. Stampin’ Up!’s designer papers make it SO easy. This card uses the Flowers for You designer paper (I also used the blues out of the same pack for the boy cards). I stamped the Sweet One from So Many Scallops on Whisper White and punched with the 1 3/8 circle punch, then punched the Scallop Circle with coordinating color Lovely Lilac. I used the Word Window punch and folded it in half, securing it to the scallop circle with a mini brad. Then I punched three small stars in coordinating colors. A small strip of Lovely Lilac cardstock hides the seam between the two papers. EASY!

Blogger’s Challenge Week #38

Published by Connie under Birthday cards,Cards,Challenges

I’m early! I am headed out of town shortly, so wanted to post my Friday’s Blogger’s Challenge card before I left. This week we are to show a Birthday card…any age. Well…I needed one for my girlfriend AND I want to show her the Dahlia flower fold, so I combined the two for this Challenge! This was one of the cards I made this weekend at the retreat…I showed several people how to make this flower there, too!

One of my goals is to use up my retired Stampin’ Up! paper. It is way too pretty to just be sitting on my shelf…so I pulled out this one using Perfect Plum, Pale Plum and Mellow Moss. Sorry, I can’t remember the name of the designer paper, but the same pretty patterns are in the current catalog with the name Le Jardin…just different colors. I added a little bling with the center Rhinestone brad and some piercing around the edges. Finally, my go-to birthday greeting from It’s Your Birthday. I added the same strip of designer paper from the folded flower to the band underneath for a little extra interest.

Well…got to run! Enjoy!

More Happy mail

Published by Connie under Birthday cards

I love getting cards in the mail! This is a fun card from fellow Control Freak swapper, Pam Downs! This is one set I’ve resisted from the Spring mini (and trust me, I’ve purchased almost the ENTIRE mini!), but this card is just TOO neat! Pam used Off the Chart for her birthday card to me! Hmmm…this set may just sneak onto my last order in June!

I’m back from teaching my classes/camps. We had tons of fun and I met a couple new gals who are now TOTALLY hooked on stamping! lol! I love it!!! I also attended a League Coffee where I saw some friends I hadn’t seen since I moved away…lots of fun catching up on news with them.
Have a good weekend. I’m going to try to spend some time tomorrow stamping just for myself. I also have my Control Freaks swap of 37 to finish and mail by Monday. Yikes!

Another Birthday RAK

Published by Connie under Birthday cards

Yeah! Today is my birthday. It was a quiet, but very nice day. My hubby took me out to dinner, both the boys called and wished me a happy birthday. We have plans with my family to meet for dinner on Sunday evening. We have SO many birthdays, anniversaries and Father’s Day to celebrate in the month of June. We’ve found it just easier to pick one day and celebrate everything on that day. Easier now that the kids are older.

Here’s another birthday card that friend, Michelle, sent me! She used the retiring set Play on Words…very cute!

I’m off again for a couple days…I’m teaching classes out of town and meeting up with some great friends. I think this is my last trip until the SU convention at the end of July! It will be nice to be home for a while…

Another birthday RAK

Published by Connie under Birthday cards

This gorgeous card was in my mailbox today! Isn’t it striking? My friend, Dina, sent it. I have an email into her asking how she did the background. I’m thinking chalk, but it could be direct to paper with Stampin’ spot inks.

It is turning out to be a crazy week. I wanted to rest on my birthday tomorrow and play with my new stamps, but it looks like I’ll still be cutting paper for my class and Stamp Camp! lol! Oh well. That’s fun, too! I’m doing a Techniques class on Thursday night and I’m real happy with how the cards turned out.

Have a great night!

Birthday RAK

Published by Connie under Birthday cards

Oh gosh! My mailbox was filled with happy mail today! Two days and counting until my birthday! Woohoo!

This darling card from Jane Bosi will definitely be CASE’D by me. You can’t see in the scan, but the circle is punched thru the front of the card and the clam is actually adhered to the inside of the card and the cake is cut out and adhered to the front. Jane used one of those darling Cricut embossing folders…Happy…I haven’t used mine yet, but I will now to recreate this card!
This is a busy week for me. I need to prepare for a class and camp. lol! Leaving it to the last minute again!
